Finding the light within

Updated: Aug 27, 2024

There comes a day when we must choose to fight or simply give in to the darkness.

I have found that there comes a time when giving in does not mean giving up. On the contrary, giving in means allowing yourself to feel and process.

I have tried running my whole life. Avoiding and closing myself off to hurt. I was self-sabotaging myself time after time. By putting off the pain, or more so by masking it, I committed to my own suffering. After all, what we usually run from, catches up and completely engulfs us in the end. I've acted outside of character while not being honest with myself, therefore lying to others about being '"fine" whilst I was completely hurting.

I'm not saying by any means that finding our light within is easy, especially when you're suffering from depression or postpartum depression. Maybe you suffer from mild to severe anxiety as well.

What about mania? Been there and still go there.

It's important to remember, rest is so vital to our healing and proper functioning. Sleep allows our brains to heal themselves.

According to the sleep foundation:

Therefore, let's make sure to rest our minds and bodies. Sleep is healing.

If you don't feel up to much, rest and remember there is nothing to feel guilty about. Give yourself grace. Our bodies do so much for us! We deserve to rest.

Sending love & light always,

Hope Beyond the Horizon
